Grand Re-Opening Event Recap and DFC Garden Products

Our Grand Re-Opening Event was a HUGE SUCCESS! We had so much fun meeting with our customers, both old and new! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! It was such a pleasure having Charlie here with us, as well! We know many of you had such a great time getting to talk with him, to catch up, or to meet him for the first time! We hope you felt right at home here, whether it was your first time in or you’ve been here a thousand times!  That is what we love so much about our new DFC look and feel!pic1 pic2Thank you so much to everyone who came out to our event! We thoroughly enjoyed seeing each and every one of you!

DFC has a wide variety of garden supplies and decor for your outdoor space, and even great for gift giving! We carry a great line of fresh-looking silk herbs that can be potted in rustic clay pots. Or you can pick up pre-made potted herbs and other greenery to incorporate with the fresh plants and flowers in your garden. If you are or know someone who is a garden enthusiast, you will love our herb label stakes that come labeled or blank so that you can create your own specific to the plants in your garden. Some of these garden stakes come individually and some come in great gift boxes! These would all be so great for Mother’s Day gifts! We have watering cans, wall decor, lanterns and more! Take a look at our selection, and come by to shop some of our other great gift items, from furniture, home decor, and even kitchen items!

Upcycled Touches Around the Store

As we get ready for our New Grand Re-Opening Event on April 11th we thought we’d share some of the new and exciting things that DFC is celebrating! As we prepared to remodel our showroom, we knew it was time for a Front Desk Makeover! If you’ve shopped with us prior to this year’s big remodel, you may remember our old, beat up, wooden front desks and registers. They had been in the same spot for years and we also thought, along with a makeover, it would be nice to even relocate to an area more towards the front of the store. The vision for the new and improved front desk registers could be summed up in a couple of words: UPCYCLED and REPURPOSED! That was the overall look for the entire store, so why shouldn’t our front desk follow suit. Take a look at this Front Desk Upcyle and the story it has to tell…

In our last blog post, about our new logo, we talked about our appreciation for the past and wanting to feel connected to memories and our roots. That is definitely what we were trying to do when thinking about the design of our front desk. The new design keeps in line with the look and feel of our new product and store design, but it also ties our past with our future with the use of the same desk we have always had.

“Every piece has a story or meaning…” That is what we’ve said about our new line of product and the same can be said about our newly upcylced front desk using reclaimed wood.front desk copy

There was nothing wrong with the front desk we had, when it came to its functionality. Basically, it was just old and beat up looking and just didn’t go with the direction we were taking the design of the showroom. So we decided to upcycle using reclaimed wood. The wood is where the desk gets its story and meaning from. The reclaimed wood came from a fence that Mae and Barney tore down in their yard at home. So as the store grows and time passes, this front desk will forever tell a story about the family business.

The tops of the upcycled front desks are custom designed and made by Tom Alandt of Central Cal Metals, another local family owned and operated business. It came out just as we had envisioned it! Thanks so much Tom!
